French Foreign Affairs Minister Stéphane Séjourné will travel to Morocco on Sunday and will meet with his Moroccan counterpart Nasser Bourita, an informed source said.
Séjourné recently announced that President Macron asked him to get involved “personally” in the revival of Franco-Moroccan relations and start “a new chapter” in bilateral ties.
Séjourné asserted that “France always stood by Morocco’s side on the Sahara issue” through its clear and constant support for the Moroccan autonomy plan.
As part of mending ties between Morocco and France, the wife of France’s President, Brigitte Macron, received Morocco’s Princess Lalla Meryem, Princess Lalla Asmae, and Princess Lalla Hasnaa at the Elysee Palace in Paris for a special luncheon on Monday.
Morocco’s official news agency MAP reported that the luncheon constituted a symbolic effort to cement the ongoing historical friendship between the Kingdom of Morocco and the French Republic.
