Morocco’s Judicial Police arrested a French National with Algerian origins on Wednesday in Marrakech, who was wanted by French authorities on suspicion of involvement in drug trafficking, money-laundering, and unauthorized possession of firearms, according to police sources.
The 36-year-old suspect had been sought internationally after Interpol issued a Red Notice at the request of the French judicial authorities for his arrest on suspicion of involvement in a number of crimes.
The suspect’s arrest is part of international security cooperation by Morocco and its various security agencies to pursue globally wanted individuals in transnational criminal cases.
The suspect was remanded into police custody subject to further investigation under the supervision of the public prosecutor’s office.
The Interpol Central Bureau at the Rabat Office of the National Police notified its French counterpart of the arrest.
