The National Police (DGSN), the Supervisory Authority for Insurance and Social Welfare (ACAPS), the National Commission for the Control of Personal Data Protection (CNDP), and the Moroccan Insurance Federation (FMA) agreed to a quadripartite framework on Thursday to improve cooperation among agencies and the police in combatting identity fraud and to promote the digitization of insurance services, according to a joint press release.
The deal is designed to strengthen insurance service security and efficiency through a variety of measures. It provides for enhanced authentication procedures for electronic national identity cards that allow the insurance industry to independently check the identity of individuals seeking either virtual or physical insurance services.
It makes the services of the national Trusted Third-Party (TTP) system, already developed by the DGSN, available to insurance firms across the country.
It will also secure transactions against the risks of fraud and money laundering, while protecting customers’ personal data in accordance with law 09-08 governing personal data protection.
A monitoring committee of representatives from the four signatories will oversee implementation of the project.
