The Moroccan squad surpassed Senegal, which ranked 17th, Nigeria 28th, Egypt 36th, Côte d’Ivoire 39th, Tunisia 41st, and Algeria 43rd.
Argentina, France, and England held the top three spots in the rankings, followed respectively by Belgium, Brazil, the Netherlands, Portugal, Spain, Italy, and Croatia.

Côte d’Ivoire won the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON 2023) against Nigeria, 2-1, and was crowned champion of Africa.
Many Ivorian players and supporters attributed this victory to Morocco’s win in the match against Zambia (1-0).
