“Years of Culture,” an organization that conducts cultural exchanges between Qatar and other countries, chose Morocco as its partner for 2024, nominating Adel El Fakir–head of Morocco’s Tourism Office “ONMT”–as General Commissioner of the Qatar-Morocco Cultural Year 2024.
The Morocco-Qatar partnership came with the aim to work on hosting cultural events to take place in Qatar and Morocco throughout the year, as cultural interaction is a powerful tool for finding common ground between societies as diverse as they are.
The program will feature the arts and crafts traditions of both countries, as well as major exhibitions, culinary experiences, musical events and sporting events.
“The initiative will offer the peoples of the two countries dozens of exciting opportunities to learn more about each other and forge new bonds, with a particular focus this time on cultural heritage and its continuing influence on contemporary life,” explained head of the Qatari organization Sheikha Al Mayassa bint Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani.
El Fakir, for his part, emphasized that Qatar-Maroc 2024 will be a unique event and an exceptional opportunity to introduce Qatar and the whole world to Morocco’s rich cultural heritage in all its diversity and particularities that make Morocco a unique country.
The Qatar-Morocco 2024 festivities will kick off on February 20 with an exquisite exhibition in Doha entitled “Berber Jewelry Exhibition at the Royal Palace.”
