Head of the National Transitional Assembly of the Republic of Gabon Jean-François Ndongou reaffirmed his country’s commitment on Monday to defend Morocco’s sovereignty over the Sahara in regional and international forums.
During meetings with the Speaker of Morocco’s Upper House Enaam Mayara, Ndongou emphasized Gabon’s support for the Kingdom’s territorial integrity on the basis of shared historical and fraternal ties, according to a press release issued by the Upper House.
He said that his country is paying special attention to the development of relations with Morocco, not only in the economic and political arenas but also in everything that brings them together as two allied countries.
The Gabonese official reiterated the importance of the parliamentary dimension in strengthening Morocco-Gabon relations and promoting these ties for the interests of the two countries.
After giving an overview of the political situation in Gabon, Ndongou asserted that management of his country’s transitional phase is proceeding according to schedule. He expressed his gratitude for Morocco’s support and assistance both bilaterally and multilaterally.
The Head of the National Transitional Assembly of the Republic of Gabon also said he was honored to visit Morocco.
Mayara welcomed Gabon’s firm position on the territorial integrity of the Sahara, as well as Gabon’s diplomatic efforts in various international arenas to affirm that position.
Morocco’s Upper House Speaker also highlighted the joint coordination between the two countries in regional and international forums, as well as their rapidly evolving economic and trade relations, emphasizing “real opportunities” for the development of these ties.
Mayara also praised the historical and fraternal ties between the two countries, based on mutual respect and shared values of solidarity and cooperation.
