Nigerien Prime Minister Ali Mahamane Lamine Zeine left Niamey on Monday for a two-day “friendship and working visit” to Morocco, he announced on his “X” account (formerly Twitter) on Monday, accompanied by Niger’s Minister of State and Defense, Lieutenant General Salifou Mody.
After the coup d’état in Niger in July 2023, Morocco adopted a neutral stance, expressing confidence in the wisdom of the country’s people and institutions to overcome the situation.
A group of Nigerien soldiers led by Colonel Amadou Abdramane announced on national television on July 26, 2023, that they had dissolved the constitution, suspended all institutions, and closed the country’s borders.
Abdramane requested all external players to refrain from interfering in the situation.
