Morocco’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Nasser Bourita held a telephone conversation with Hussein Al-Sheikh, Secretary General of the Executive Committee of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO), on Monday. The dialogue focused on the ongoing Israeli aggression against the Gaza Strip, as well as on recent developments in the region.
During the phone call, Bourita reaffirmed King Mohammed VI’s steadfast position, highlighting the need for an immediate, comprehensive, and sustainable termination of Israel’s aggression in Gaza.
The two officials also discussed the Gaza population’s right to unfettered access to humanitarian relief aid, in addition to the need to build a political vision for the Palestinian conflict that supports the implementation of the two-state solution.
Expressing deep concern, Minister Bourita conveyed Morocco’s apprehension regarding statements made by some Israeli officials regarding plans to persist with attacks on Gaza. The intention to target and storm the city of Rafah raised alarms due to the potentially catastrophic humanitarian consequences.
The Minister further highlighted Morocco’s unequivocal rejection of any attempt to forcibly displace Palestinians, in addition to the importance of protecting them under international and humanitarian law.
