Nigerian magazine “The New Africa” has just published a list of 100 emblematic African leaders for the year 2023, that includes four prominent Moroccans, Mostafa Terrab, CEO of the OCP Group; writer Leila Slimani; Karima Rhanem, President of the International Center for Diplomacy; and visual artist and painter Afif Bennani.
The list, published recently, celebrates “the enduring legacy of visionaries who transcended borders and redefined the course of history.”
The magazine called OCP’s CEO Terrab a “trail blazer” for his accomplishments as a Moroccan businessman, CEO of the Moroccan state-owned phosphate mining corporation, and president of the International Fertilizer Organization.
The New Africa list includes one of the wealthiest businessmen in Africa, Aliko Dangote from Nigeria who has “played a pivotal role in shaping the continent’s economic landscape.”
Jim Ovia, the first president of Nigerian Internet Group and the creator and chairman of Mankind United to encourage total education, is also listed among the leaders.
The list also includes President of Egypt Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, the President of the Musk Foundation, South African Elon Musk, and the third President of Gabon, Ali Bongo Ondimba.
Africa’s hub of talent, creativity, and resilience is on full display with the list of leaders whose collective experiences “inspire others to build leadership that is grounded in service, creativity, and an unshakable commitment to a brighter future for all,” the magazine stated.
