A delegation from the French Chamber of Commerce and Industry in the Guelmim-Oued Noun region was inaugurated on Wednesday in Guelmim.
Guelmim-Oued Noun region Governor Mohamed Najem Abhay, French Ambassador to Morocco Christophe Lecourtier, President of the Guelmim-Oued Noun Regional Council Mbarka Bouaida, and President of the French Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Morocco Claudia Gaudio Francisco, presided over the inauguration of this delegation during a ceremony. The French Consuls in Casablanca and Agadir also attended the ceremony.
The purpose of this delegation is to provide local services to economic operators and act as a mediator between these actors and economic environments in other regions, notably France. This initiative aligns with the efforts of the Guelmim-Oued Noun Regional Council to support regional and local economic actors and to facilitate their connections with networks and organizations in productive sectors, both domestically and internationally.
The French economic delegation, led by Lecourtier, is undertaking a two-day visit to the Guelmim-Oued Noun region as part of the 7th Moroccan-French Economic Days (February 7-8). The delegation comprises 35 economic actors from the Chamber.
Lecourtier expressed his delight at the opening of a regional delegation of the French Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Guelmim, adding that this is not the first time the Chamber has opened representations in the south of Morocco, as it already possesses several delegations throughout the national territory.
He emphasized that the Guelmim-Oued Noun region is experiencing significant economic development due to the launch of several major projects within the regional development plan, highlighting the importance of this region given its strategic position as a crossroads between the north and south of Morocco.
The ambassador went on to say that this visit to Guelmim-Oued Noun is an opportunity to discover the region, its potential, and the various projects that have been launched, particularly in the field of renewable energies.
Bouaida stated that the objective of inaugurating this regional delegation is to develop relations between the French Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Morocco and the economic institutions of the Guelmim-Oued Noun region.
She added that the visit of the French economic delegation is an opportunity to see the vast potential of the region and to communicate the details of the 2022-2027 regional development plan.
Gaudio Francisco noted that the objective of inaugurating this regional delegation in Guelmim, the 10th representation of this institution in Morocco, is to contribute to the development dynamics of the region and to support entrepreneurs and economic operators.
She added that this delegation of the French chamber, which currently has 3,200 members throughout Morocco, will make all its services available to investors, project holders, and young entrepreneurs.
Bouaida held a meeting with French economic operators prior to the inauguration, during which she praised Morocco-France’s historic and enduring relationship
During this meeting, the French delegation was informed about the rich economic, natural, agricultural, and maritime potential of the Guelmim-Oued Noun region, as well as the major projects currently underway.
The French economic delegation also visited the artisanal complex in Guelmim and viewed a presentation on the Guelmim-Oued Noun region’s development program, which encompasses 96 projects with investments totaling 11.9 billion MAD.
