Abdellatif Hammouchi, the Head of Morocco’s National Police (DGSN) and of Territory Surveillance services (DGST), arrived in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, for an official visit on Sunday at the invitation of Saudi State Security President, Lieutenant General Abdulaziz bin Mohammed Al Howairini, according to security sources.
The visit coincides with Saudi Arabia’s World Defense Show 2024, which is currently running from February 4 to 8, offering an opportunity to assess the most recent worldwide breakthroughs in defense sectors, security, and satellite technology with the participation of 45 countries.
Hammouchi is meeting with senior officials from Saudi Arabia’s security services to discuss the current state of security cooperation between Morocco and Saudi Arabia, and to explore ways to enhance their collaboration, thereby strengthening the two countries’ robust relations, according to the source. Hammouchi also toured several pavilions at the show that feature cutting-edge technical solutions in the areas of defense and security.
The visit is part of the close cooperation on safety concerns between Morocco and Saudi Arabia, following the signing of a 2023 counterterrorism and finance agreement in Rabat. The agreement facilitated the two kingdom’s cooperation and coordination in countering terrorism and its financing through a strong partnership.
