Travel revenues witnessed a robust surge, reaching over 104.59 billion MAD by year-end (Dec. 2023), a substantial 11.7% increase year-on-year from 93.63 billion MAD, as reported by Morocco’s foreign exchange regulator “Office des Changes’” latest bulletin.
According to the Office’s monthly indicators of external trade, travel expenses for the last month of 2023 totaled 23.76 billion MAD.
By the end of 2023, the travel balance surplus stood at 80.83 billion MAD, a notable rise from the 74.38 billion MAD recorded in the same period a year before.
The data show a positive trend in the economic impact of travel, highlighting the sector’s resilience and growth.
A record-breaking number of 27,091,249 passengers came through Moroccan airports in 2023, a 32% rise from the previous year’s figure of 24,429,325 passengers, the National Airports Office (ONDA) had reported.
