Morocco was selected by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) on Friday, to preside over the Steering Committee of the Global Nuclear Safety and Security Network (GNSSN) for three years starting in 2024, according to a statement by the Moroccan Agency for Nuclear and Radiological Safety and Security (AMSSNuR).
Said Mouline, Head of AMSSNuR will be leading the committee during this period.
The IAEA praised the Kingdom for its valuable contributions and expressed confidence that Morocco’s appointment would significantly contribute to the IAEA’s and GNSSN’s efforts to improve global nuclear safety and security.
The GNSSN, an IAEA-affiliated knowledge-sharing network, is critical to global nuclear safety and security. It promotes the exchange of expertise and services among its members while adhering to the IAEA’s integrated capacity-building approach.
The network comprises data providers and regional network operators from Asia, Africa, the Middle East, Europe, and Latin America.
