Deputy Secretary of State for Near Eastern Affairs Barbara Leaf met with Morocco’s new Ambassador to the United States, Youssef Amrani, at the US State Department in Washington, D.C. on Tuesday.
During this first working meeting following the Moroccan ambassador’s recent appointment, the two officials celebrated the longstanding and diverse relationship between Morocco and the United States and discussed ways and means to deepen and diversify it.
Amrani and Leaf also discussed the importance of capitalizing on existing achievements and exploring innovative cooperation mechanisms to meet the common goals of strengthening political dialogue and strategic partnerships.
The two diplomats addressed a number of regional and international issues and highlighted a convergence of perspectives in a number of areas, underlining the two countries’ intent to deepen their collaborative efforts toward peace, security, and stability in Africa and the Middle East.
They also explored synergies that could enhance global initiatives to further common interests and enhance shared prosperity for the two countries.
