Moroccan National police officers arrested an Indian national on Monday at Mohammed V International Airport, in Casablanca, who was the subject of an international Interpol arrest warrant issued at the request of Saudi judicial authorities, the National Police (DGSN) stated.
After verifying the Interpol database, police identified the 45-year-old suspect as the subject of a “red notice” issued at the behest of the central national office in Riyadh as a result of his alleged involvement in a breach of trust case.
The accused is alleged to have taken advantage of his position as a project manager in a commercial establishment to embezzle over 2.5 million Saudi rials, approximately 6,100 Euros, before fleeing Saudi Arabia.
The suspect was remanded into police custody pending further investigation, under the supervision of the public prosecutor’s office.
The Interpol Bureau in Rabat is responsible for notifying the relevant Saudi authorities of his detention before initiating extradition procedures.
