The National Police (DGSN) of Casablanca’s Anfa security district apprehended a 48-year-old Algerian man and his 28-year-old Moroccan wife over the weekend who are suspected of involvement in multiple vehicle thefts, according to security sources.
The first suspect, the wife, was captured red-handed attempting to steal a car in the Anfa district while using an electrical device that prevents the vehicle owner from locking the doors after leaving.
After further investigation, the other suspect, her Algerian spouse, was identified and arrested, having allegedly committed multiple car thefts using the same technique in Mohammedia and other Casablanca districts, according to a police source.
A search of the suspects’ residence resulted in the confiscation of several gadgets utilized in the criminal activity, as well as a large collection of personal items, jewelry, and technological devices representing the loot from their crimes.
The suspects are now in custody pending further investigation under the supervision of the prosecutor’s office.
