King Charles III of Britain was admitted to a London hospital on Friday morning for a corrective procedure to address an enlarged prostate, reported local news outlets.
Buckingham Palace stated that the 75-year-old monarch had arrived at the facility for his scheduled treatment.
“His Majesty would like to thank all those who have sent their good wishes over the past week and is delighted to learn that his diagnosis is having a positive impact on public health awareness,” it added.
The Palace revealed on January 17 that the King’s condition was benign and that he would undergo treatment similar to that of thousands of men each year.
It is currently not clear as to how long King Charles will remain in the hospital.
The news outlets reported that the King entered the London Clinic in central London on Friday morning with the Queen by his side.
An enlarged prostate, also known as benign prostatic hyperplasia, is typically not a serious threat to health and is not cancerous. However, patients may need to undergo several tests to rule out the possibility of another illness with similar symptoms, such as prostate cancer.
