The Spanish government appointed Enrique Ojeda as the new Ambassador of Spain to Morocco, Spanish news agency EFE Rabat tweeted on X (formerly Twitter) on Tuesday.
Ojeda replaces Ricardo Díez-Hochleitner, who held the position for over eight years.
Spain’s new Ambassador to Morocco is the former director of a public consortium created in the 1990s called Casa América and previously served as a representative of his country in Chile, Bolivia, and El Salvador.
He has also held various diplomatic positions in Spanish embassies in the United Kingdom, Bolivia, Guatemala, and at the Consulate General of Spain in New York.
Ojeda, born on April 10, 1968, in Seville, has a degree in law from the University of Seville and complemented his training with courses in history and international law, and participation in the Summer School of the London School of Economics.
His diplomatic career, which began in 1994, includes notable roles as director of the Three Cultures of the Mediterranean Foundation, secretary general of foreign action of the Junta de Andalucía, and chief of regional cooperation in Spain’s Ministry of Territorial Policy.
