The Moroccan Society of Tourist Engineering (La Société Marocaine d’Ingénierie Touristique – SMIT), a government institution that promotes the strategic development of tourism in Morocco, participated in the Atlantic Ocean Hotel Investor Summit (AOHIS), held on Jan. 23-24 in Madrid, Spain, highlighting developments and reforms in Morocco.
Along with several Moroccan investors and major groups, the international forum mobilized more than 500 leading players in the international tourism industry and brought together the active investment communities of the markets at the heart of the event to discuss topical issues and create networking and business opportunities.
Speaking on the “Invest in tourism” panel, Managing Director of SMIT Imad Barrakad pointed out that Morocco has introduced social and economic reforms to further stimulate tourism investment in the country. He also took the opportunity to appeal to tourism investors to seize the momentum and invest in connection with the 2030 World Cup, particularly in the hotel, entertainment, and catering sectors.
SMIT’s participation in AOHIS Madrid was an opportunity to highlight the Kingdom’s ongoing growth in tourism investment, increase the visibility of investment opportunities for projects under the sector’s new roadmap, and persuade the investment community to consider Morocco as a tourism investment destination. Destinations such as Agadir, Fez, Tangier, Casablanca, and Rabat are ideal for tourism investment.
In addition to Barrakad, the presidents of major international brands, including Horacio Alcalá, CEO of ALSOTEL, Alexis Delprat, Managing Partner of TABAH CAPITAL HOLDING SCS and Raffaele Breschi, CEO of the ARSENAL Group, attended. Other high-level meetings were also held on the sidelines of the conference.
