Gabon’s former consul in Saudi Arabia, Branly Martial Oupolo, was appointed the new Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Gabon to Morocco on Monday, according to the minutes of the council of ministers chaired by the transitional head of state of Gabon, General Brice Oligui Nguema.
Martial Oupolo succeeds Sylver Aboubacar Minko Mi-Nseme who served as ambassador since February 2019.
Gabon reaffirmed its support for Morocco’s Sahara Autonomy Plan at the 4th committee of the UN General Assembly held recently in New York.
During the meeting, Gabon’s UN representative Lia Bouanga Ayoune said that Morocco’s plan not only aims to end the current political deadlock but also seeks to achieve an acceptable and negotiated political solution.
Ayoune also praised Morocco’s substantial achievements in human rights.
