Since Sunday, at least 41 weather-related deaths have been recorded in the United States, 14 of them in Tennessee only, as an arctic blast continues to bring heavy snow and frigid temperatures from coast to coast, reported several US outlets.
As of Thursday evening, more than 80 million Americans in 30 states have been bracing for cold or snowy conditions.
The National Weather Service has issued winter storm warnings and advisories ranging from Montana to the New Jersey shoreline as a fast-moving storm system approaches.
Temperatures in the Midwest are forecast to remain chilly, although not as low as earlier this week. More snow was anticipated for Thursday as a storm system moved from the Plains to the Midwest and Great Lakes, potentially causing difficult driving conditions.
Snowfall amounts are expected to be on the lower end, with states such as Pennsylvania, New York, and New Jersey receiving 1 to 3 inches. Snow was forecast to be heavier — more than 6 inches—in regions near the Appalachian Mountains.
