Mohammed Sadiki, Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries, Rural Development and Water and Forests, participated on Thursday in the inaugural ceremony of the 88th Berlin International Green Week, which is being held from January 19-28 in Germany’s capital.
Sadiki visited the Moroccan pavilion at the trade show and was accompanied by the Moroccan Ambassador to Germany, Zohour Alaoui, and German Minister for Food and Agriculture, Cem Özdemir.
The Moroccan pavilion, which covers 623 m2 and features around 20 stands displaying regional Moroccan goods, is organized by Morocco Foodex.
A central entertainment area features culinary demos which promote Moroccan cuisine and cultural events.
The 12 regions of Morocco are represented with approximately 20 cooperatives and economic interest groups, each of which showcases a broad variety of Moroccan terroir products that capture the richness, diversity, and authenticity of the country’s cultural and physical attributes.
Morocco’s participation in Berlin’s Green Week is intended to increase interest in Moroccan agri-foodstuffs, particularly local and regional specialties, as well as to expand exports of these commodities while capitalizing on new international markets available for this sector of the Moroccan economy.
Berlin’s International Green Week, founded in 1926, is a global event focused on food, agriculture, and horticulture. This year, over 1,400 exhibitors from 60 countries are in attendance, welcoming over 300,000 visitors to a 118,000 m² area.
