The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has suspended Algerian coach Adel Amrouche on Thursday for eight matches and fined him $10,000, while Tanzania Football Federation (TFF) sacked him from his post as head coach, and replaced him with Hemed Morocco, the TFF twitted on Friday.
In a public appearance on Algerian television earlier this week, Amrouche had accused the Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF) of manipulating the African Federation to get more convenient referees and time slots for the Moroccan national team.
TFF President Wallace Kari had rejected Amrouche’s position, saying that the Federation does not support the statement by its head coach who accused Morocco of dominating African football and selecting referees to officiate in its matches.
“We categorically do not support the statement as we respect Morocco for its hard work in developing football, and will know what to do in regards to the coach’s careless and provocative statement,” Karia had said.
The Algerian coach had made a number of irrelevant statements before and after the game that brought together Morocco and Tanzania on Wednesday and ended by the Atlas Lions’ triumph (3-0), as part of the opener of Group E of Africa Cup of Nations (CAN).
