Canadian mining company Aya Gold & Silver announced new high-grade exploration drilling results from its 76,000 meter program completed in 2023 at Boumadine, Morocco, according to a corporate memo released on Thursday.
The new results confirm the existence of significant high-grade mineralized zones in the southern and northern parts of the main drilling region, which remains open in all directions. For 2023, 197 diamond drill holes (“DDH”) measuring 74,295 meters in depth were completed at Boumadine.
Infill drilling was carried out along the main trend (southern, central and northern zones), while exploration drilling also targeted the northwest, Tizi, and northeast zones.
Data since November 2023 confirm the high grade of the southern infill sections of the main trend, particularly with drill holes BOU-DD23-223 and BOU-DD23-230, which intersected large mined zones.
The primary mineralization generally consists of massive sulfide lenses/veins 1-4 meters wide (locally reaching over 10 meters wide), trending N340 and dipping steeply to the east (>70°). Massive sulfide veins (>80%) are mainly composed of pyrite, with variable proportions of sphalerite, galena and chalcopyrite. Following the completion of the 2023 drilling program, the company plans to release a NI 43-101 compliant resource by the end of Q1 2024.
The 2024 drilling program is already underway, and part of it will continue to extend the length of the main Boumadine trend, while primarily focusing on exploring targets outside the main trend.
Final figures will be announced later in the first quarter. Field work on the new permits began in 2024 with a hyperspectral survey, mapping and prospecting.
