National Police in Ouarzazate, in coordination with territory surveillance services (DGST), apprehended five individuals between the ages of 27 and 70, including three officials and a bookseller on Sunday and Monday over suspicion of their involvement in the falsification of documents intended to establish visa application files leading to the act of illegal immigration.
According to a police source, the suspects are allegedly involved in mediating a scheme of illegal immigration in the rural area “Ekiwin” in the province of Tinghir, by providing documents containing fraudulent data to obtain entry visas to European countries.
The bookseller is suspected of spearheading the falsification of these documents.
The search carried out in the bookstore owned by one of the suspects led to the seizure of two computers containing digital traces of several passports, employment contracts, and various documents registered in the names of other individuals.
The suspects were remanded into police custody pending further investigation, under the supervision of the public prosecutor’s office.
