Moroccan driver Souad Mouktadiri claimed the second position on Sunday in the FIA T4 category and 13th place in the overall truck and car ranking at the 15th edition of the “Africa Eco Race” rally at Lac Rose, on the outskirts of Dakar, Senegal.
The rally, which took place from December 30 to January 14, ran from Monaco to Dakar.
Mouktadiri is the only woman to have competed in the truck and car race scheduled as part of this year’s Africa Eco Race. She is also the first Moroccan and African woman to have participated in this annual rally.
A total of 125 competitors from 30 countries–including 80 in the motorcycle category and 45 in the car, truck, and light vehicle categories–took part in the event.
The awards ceremony for the motorcycle, truck, and car category winners was held on Sunday at Lac Rose. Participants arrived in Senegal on Saturday after completing stages in Morocco and Mauritania.
Moroccan motorcyclist Amine Echiguer also participated in the rally but was forced to withdraw from the contest during the third stage due to mechanical issues.
The competition covered a distance of approximately 6,000 km, with competitors traversing the deserts of Morocco and Mauritania over 15 days before reaching Lac Rose.
