The national police at Marrakech-Menara Airport arrested a French-Algerian national on Friday, pursuant to an international arrest warrant issued by the French judicial authorities, as per a security source.
The 29-year-old suspect is wanted by an Interpol Red Notice issued by the central national office in Paris for the enforcement of imprisonment sentences rendered against him by the French judiciary.
The individual is arrested over suspension of involvement in an armed robbery against a company in the city of Saint-André de Corcy in France.
The accused allegedly stole jewelry, watches, and mobile phones from individuals at the company, threatening the use of a firearm, the same source said.
The suspect was remanded into police custody pending further investigation, under the supervision of the public prosecutor’s office.
Interpol Bureau in Rabat notified the relevant French authorities of his detention to initiate the extradition procedure.
