Canadian metals mining company Aya Gold & Silver has announced a new production record of 1,970,646 ounces of silver at an average grade of 250 grams per ton in 2023 from its Zgounder mine in Morocco, announced the company in a press release on Thursday.
As of Q4 2023, 450,046 ounces of silver had been produced.
This volume, up 4.8% from 2022, exceeds forecasts of between 1.7 and 1.9 million ounces.
The Zgounder mine, located 200 km south of Marrakech, produced 1,230,410 ounces of silver concentrate and 740,236 ounces of silver ingots.
President & CEO of the Aya Benoit La Salle boasted, “This important milestone was achieved during a transitional year as we complete our Zgounder mine expansion to quadruple production and continue to drill at both Zgounder and Boumadine. We remain on time and on budget with commissioning in Q2-2024 and full ramp up by Q4-2024.”
