Morocco will take part in the UK-African Investment Summit (UK-AIS) to strengthen UK-African partnerships and create jobs and economic growth that will take place April 23-24, 2024, in London, the UK government posted on its official website.
British Envoy for the UK-AIS Alastair McPhail expressed his eagerness to work with Morocco during a visit to Rabat on Wednesday.
“We look forward to building a modern partnership of mutual benefit based on respect with Morocco and others,” McPhail told the press after talks in Rabat with Minister of Foreign Affairs, Nasser Bourita.
Together with members of international and regional organizations, the summit is expected to bring together business and political leaders from the UK and other invited nations. UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak is expected to host delegations from 25 guest countries, including Morocco, at the UK-AIS 2024.
With the UK currently the largest holder of foreign assets in Africa, the Kingdom aspires to secure additional significant investment in the continent, enabling two-way trade, and supporting policies and reforms that increase long-term prospects for mutual investment.
The 2024 Summit is intended to build on the success of the UK-Africa Investment Summit 2020 and subsequent virtual conferences in 2021 and 2022. The 2020 Summit was a watershed moment in British cooperation with African countries, resulting in nearly £6.5 billion in transactions, according to the organizers.
