An explosion in the Sandman Signature Fort Worth Downtown Hotel in Fort Worth, Texas, USA, injured nearly two dozen people on Monday, leaving massive portions of the building scattered across the road in the city’s downtown district, reported CNN.
According to a MedStar spokesman, one individual had critical injuries, four were in serious condition, and the others had only minor injuries.
Craig Trojacek, a representative from the Fort Worth Fire Department, said that fire authorities suspect the incident was caused by “some type of gas explosion,” but they are currently still investigating the cause.
Emergency responders discovered one individual who had previously been missing, he said. Firefighters also rescued several people who were stuck in the basement.
Guests were staying in 26 of the hotel rooms while construction work was underway elsewhere in the building. It is unclear whether this played a part in the explosion.
