Minister of National Education Chakib Benmoussa said on Monday that 31% of Morocco’s primary schools teach the Amazigh language.
During the House of Representatives’ Q-and-A session, Benmoussa stated that the Ministry’s goal is to achieve a 50% rate by the 2025-2026 school year.
In order to attain this goal, the Ministry hired 200 Amazigh language teachers in 2021, 400 in 2022, and 600 in 2023, in addition to bilingual instructors.
Benmoussa also recalled that during the 2023 session, the Ministry authorized updated school guidelines for Amazigh language instruction in primary schools.
