Morocco’s national football team is scheduled to fly on Sunday to San Pedro, a city in southwestern Cote d’Ivoire, to focus on preparations for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), which will take place from January 13 to February 11.
Announcing a change in the team’s preparation program ahead of the 34th edition of the tournament, the Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF) said the Atlas Lions will now play a warm-up friendly against Sierra Leone on January 11, instead of the previously scheduled game against Gambia on January 7 in Rabat.
Led by coach Walid Regragui, the Moroccan national team already began its preparations for AFCON in Maâmoura, Salé, on Tuesday, at the Mohammed VI Football Complex.
On Wednesday, the team participated in a new training session to go over various areas of the team’s preparedness.
The men’s national squad will be competing in Group F along with DR Congo, Zambia, and Tanzania in the group stage in San Pedro. They will begin their journey on Wednesday, January 17, at 6 PM against the Stars of Kilimanjaro.
Following that, they will face the Leopards on Sunday, January 21, at 3 PM, and finish up the group stage against the Chipolopolos on Wednesday, January 24, at 9 PM.
