The two Britons, who were attacked last Thursday by an ex-convict wielding a bladed weapon while sunbathing in a beach in Agadir, chose to resume their New Year vacation in the same tourist city and shared a picture of them on Facebook.
Agadir National Police, in coordination with a maritime brigade of the Royal Gendarmerie, had arrested the assailant of three foreign tourists, including a British couple and a Moroccan-Belgian woman. The British victims had received medical care after suffering superficial injuries, while the third victim remained at the hospital to receive further treatment.
Many British media outlets had reported on the incident, implying a lack of security in Moroccan tourist spots. However, the tourists insisted on posting their picture enjoying their time in Agadir, saying that news stories are overhyping the attack which lasted seconds and could have happened anywhere in the world.
The 33yo suspect had been previously convicted and sentenced for drug and psychotropic substance trafficking. He was remanded in police custody pending further investigation by the public prosecution.
