Morocco’s tourism sector experienced a 15.8% increase in November, reaching 97.4 billion MAD and marking a significant turning point compared to the previous year’s statistics of 84.12 billion MAD, according Morocco’s foreign exchange regulator “Office des Changes” bulletin.
The spike in revenue matches a significant increase in tourism, with 13.2 million visitors having entered the Kingdom in the past 11 months.
This surge illustrates a stunning 36% increase over the same time period the prior year, according to the Ministry of Tourism and Handicrafts.
Morocco’s tourism industry has seen a significant recovery with a surge in tourist arrivals and accompanying revenue, bouncing back from a severe downturn in 2020 and 2021, when revenues plummeted to 31.7 and 32.5 billion MAD, respectively.
November’s achievement surpassed the first 11 months of 2019, which stood at 72.8 billion MAD before experiencing a sharp decline due to the global pandemic.
Morocco’s Tourism Minister, Fatima Zahra Amor, expressed optimism about the country’s tourism sector revival, asserting that Morocco is on course to exceed its objective of hosting 14 million tourists by December, exhibiting determination and willingness in the face of global challenges.
