A minor 3.3-magnitude tremor was felt on Wednesday evening (around 9:15 P.M.) in the region of Khouribga / Oued Zem, specifically the Ait Ammar province, but was deemed unrelated to the September 8th catastrophe, announced Director of the National Institute of Geophysics (ING) Nasser Jebbour.
Jebbour asserted in a statement to Barlaman that the earthquake was light and recorded 30 kilometers from the city.
He added that it was recorded on a strip of contact with the Western Plateau and the Mediterranean Atlas Mountains.
Jabbour confirmed that this earthquake was the result of activity within the Great Atlas seismic zone, where pressure had been exerted on the earth’s outermost layer–the crust–further noting that it occurred in an area generally anomalous to such activity.
