The Africa Report has named the head of Morocco’s National Police (DGSN) and Territorial Surveillance (DGST), Abdellatif Hammouchi, one of the 50 most influential African Power Brokers, the Magazine reported on Thursday.
Hammouchi is followed by the Governor of Ethiopia’s national bank Mamo Mihretu and Angolan General Francisco Pereira Furtado.
Morocco’s security chief has strong ties with the major international intelligence agencies, such as America’s CIA, Britain’s MI6, and France’s DGSE, with which he has collaborated in numerous operations.
Hammouchi received CIA director William J. Burns to discuss the security of the Sahel and Sahara in April.
In 2015, France awarded him the Légion d’honneur medal.
