“Government AI Readiness Index 2023,” as reported by London-based Oxford Insights, ranked Morocco sixth in Africa in artificial intelligence (AI) readiness, while ranking it 88 out of 193 worldwide, according to its latest report released recently.
In Africa, Mauritius came in first (61st worldwide), with 53.27 points, followed by Egypt (62nd) with 52.69 points, then South Africa (77th), which obtained 47.28 points. Tunisia came in fourth (81st) with 46.07 points, and Rwanda came fifth and 84th worldwide with 45.39 points.
In the MENA (Middle East and North Africa) region, Morocco is ranked 12th, while the United Arab Emirates is the regional leader and 18th worldwide, followed by KSA, Qatar, Oman, and Jordan.
Analysis of the report reveals that Morocco excels specifically in the “Infrastructure and Data” pillar, achieving a score of 56.79 out of 100. However, less favorable results are recorded for the “Government” sector, with a score of 37.54 out of 100, and for the “Technology Sector” category, with a score of 35.69.
