The African Football Confederation (CAF) announced the names of 68 exceptionally qualified referees who have been designated to officiate in the next TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations 2023 in Cote d’Ivoire, including seven Moroccans.
According to the list, Samir Guezzaz, Jalal Jayed, and Bouchra Karboubi will serve as main referees, while Mostafa Akarkad and Lahsen Azgaou will serve as assistant referees.
Zakaria Brinzi and Redouane Jiyed will both act as Video Assistant Referees (VARs).
Karboubi holds the distinction of being the sole female main referee in the tournament.
The referees will be taking a refresher course in Cote d’Ivoire beginning January 5, 2024, including both physical and theoretical examination.
In the upcoming football event, the Moroccan squad “Atlas Lions” will be playing in Group F, along with Congo, Zambia, and Tanzania.
The highly anticipated event will be held from January 13 to February 11 in five Ivorian cities: Abidjan, Yamoussoukro, San-Pédro, Korhogo, and Bouaké.
