Palestinian Foreign Minister Riyad al-Maliki lauded the role of King Mohammed VI, Chairperson of Al Quds Committee (an offshoot of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation), in safeguarding the Palestinian presence in the Arab-Islamic-Christian city of Al Quds.
Al-Maliki was speaking at a press briefing with Moroccan counterpart Nasser Bourita, on the eve of the sixth Arab-Russian Cooperation Forum in Marrakesh. He highlighted the importance of efforts made by the Palestinian Authority, Morocco and other Arab and Islamic countries to keep the true identity of Al Quds city.
The Palestinian senior official thanked Morocco and its King for supporting the Palestinian cause, saying that he is convinced the Kingdom will continue backing Palestine and helping it through the current crisis.
Bourita reaffirmed that Morocco stands by the Palestinian Authority as the sole and only legitimate representative of Palestinians, and calls for establishing a Palestinian State within the 1967 borders, with East of Al Quds as capital.
The Moroccan senior official also voiced Morocco’s rejection of the number of civilian victims and urged a ceasefire that would allow humanitarian aid to access Gaza. He called on Israel to refrain from unilateral actions and engage in a real political process, along with the Palestinian Authority.
