Minister of Justice Abdellatif Ouahbi signed a cooperation agreement for the extradition of criminals with his counterpart, Minister of Justice and Security Dilan Yeşilgöz on Monday at the Ministry headquarters.
This collaboration initiates the legal and judicial cooperation program between Morocco and the Netherlands.
The agreement aims to enable the transfer from one country to another of individuals suspected of having committed a crime. It is a proven mechanism in combating transnational crime and reducing the chances of avoiding punishment
During the meeting, several related topics were discussed, including coordination in the field of judicial proceedings, combating organized crime, money laundering, suspicious banking transactions, financial crimes, and seizure of criminal assets.
“This agreement completed the judicial cooperation protocol between the two countries and we consider it a great appreciation for the strong historical partnership between Morocco and Netherlands,” Ouahbi said.
The Dutch Minister of Justice and Security confirmed that organized crime does not recognize borders, and international criminal networks continuously work to enhance their illegal practices in arms, drugs, and human trafficking.
This meeting strengthens the bonds of friendship and facilitates legal and judicial cooperation, sharing of knowledge, and best practices that serve the interests of both countries. This agreement is also a fundamental pillar to enhance the position of Morocco in combating transcontinental crime.
