Saaïd Amzazi, the governor of the Souss Massa region, received the United Nations Children’s Fund’s (UNICEF) representative in Morocco, Speciose Hakizimana, on Thursday, to discuss support for children most profoundly affected by the September 8 earthquake.
During the meeting, Amzazi presented an overview of the regional transformation that the Souss Massa region in general–and the city of Agadir in particular–has undergone, which points to the need for strong leadership at the Kingdom level now more than ever for this distinguished urban center.
The official also discussed the various aspects related to the repercussions of the earthquake in the Taroudant region and the efforts made by public authorities to rebuild the affected areas.
Hakizmana expressed her readiness–along with that of her accompanying team–to intensify the various UNICEF operations in the Souss Massa region, specifically to support the earthquake victims in the Haouz region and to meet the most pressing needs of the affected children.
The two parties agreed to organize a working session in the Taroudant region at the end of this month.
