The National U.S.-Arab Chamber of Commerce (NUSACC) awarded the King’s ambassador to the United States, Lalla Joumala Alaoui, the 2023 “Ambassador of the Year award” on Monday in appreciation of her tireless efforts to deepen ties between the two nations.
Speaking on the occasion, the Moroccan ambassador stated that the award “is a wonderful tribute to the King’s Vision for a strategic, diverse, and ever-growing partnership with the United States of America.”
She added that at the very heart of this long-standing alliance are the women and men whose connections have, over the years, built indestructible bridges of exchange and understanding between the two countries. The Moroccan-American alliance is not only far-reaching and prestigious, but it has also withstood the test of time.
For his part, U.S. Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary in the Bureau of Near Eastern Affairs, Henry T. Wooster, underlined the binding friendship between Morocco and the U.S., noting that the Kingdom is “a bastion of stability” in the North Africa region.
President and CEO of NUSACC, David Hamod, expressed to MAP, “This is emblematic of the growing relationship between the U.S. and Morocco at several levels.”
“This award granted to Lalla Joumala Alaoui is a very-well deserved distinction,” said the U.S. ambassador to Morocco, Puneet Talwar, who stressed his counterpart’s “unwavering dedication” and “outstanding contribution” to the consolidation of the U.S.-Moroccan bilateral relationship.
While welcoming the humanitarian and professional qualities of Lalla Joumala Alaoui, the former U.S. ambassador to Morocco, David T. Fischer, highlighted the pivotal role played by the diplomat in strengthening relations between Washington and Rabat.
Morocco and the United States enjoy centuries-old relations backed by a strategic partnership which is enjoying sustained, multi-faceted growth.
Established in 2004, the distinction bestowed upon Morocco’s ambassador this year is presented annually to a member of the Arab diplomatic corps in the USA for his or her outstanding contributions to U.S.-Arab commercial relations.
