Morocco, which chaired the 32nd session of the United Nations Commission on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice (CCPCJ), was elected as Rapporteur of the Bureau of the 33rd CCPCJ on behalf of Africa, on Friday.
Morocco’s election, in the person of Mohamed Amine Boukhris, Counsellor at Morocco’s Permanent Mission in Vienna, came following the meetings of the Commission on Narcotic Drugs (CND) and the CCPCJ.
The Moroccan representation highlighted the Kingdom’s resolution A/77/L.89, which was adopted by consensus on July 25 while examining agenda item 9 on the follow-up of the 14th United Nations Congress on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice.
Morocco took the opportunity to congratulate the United Arab Emirates, which will be organizing the 15th United Nations Congress on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice and underscored Morocco’s role as an actor of peace and defender of tolerance, as well as the imperative of ensuring synergy, dynamism and complementarity between the CND and the CCPCJ when examining issues relating to drug trafficking and transnational organized crime.
Ambassador Ivo Sramek, Permanent Representative of the Czech Republic in Vienna, will preside over the 33rd CCPCJ.
