Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu issued a warning that if Hezbollah continues its attacks, Israel will turn Beirut and the region surrounding it “into Gaza,” reported Al Jazeera on Friday.
“If Hezbollah chooses to start an all-out war then it will, by its own hand, turn Beirut and southern Lebanon, not far from here, into Gaza and Khan Younis,” Netanyahu said while visiting troops near the border.
This threat came after a guided missile attack from Lebanon killed an Israeli civilian in northern Israel.
The Israeli military asserted on Thursday that members from the Lebanese Shiite group carried out an anti-tank strike in northern Israel.
Hezbollah, which backs the Palestinian party Hamas, claimed responsibility for one of the 11 strikes carried out on Thursday, which targeted an Israeli barracks in Mattat, a town near the Lebanese border.
Hezbollah said the attack on Thursday was in support of Palestinians in Gaza.
According to Gaza officials, more than 17,100 Palestinians have been murdered since October 7.
The death toll among Israelis stands at only 1,150.
