Moroccan innovator and President of the International Federation of Artificial Intelligence (IFAI) Amine Belmzoukia received the prestigious Person of the Year award for Sustainability and Excellence from the Italian E-Novation Foundation and the Association of Mediterranean Journalists on Thursday as part of an international event hosted in the Italian capital of Rome.
Belmzoukia, who is also the Founder of the Big Data, Robotic, AI & BI Club affiliated with the Faculty of Sciences at Ibn Tofail University in Kenitra, received recognition for his efforts to combat the COVID-19 pandemic, specifically his design of an automated sanitization gateway for cars and humans.
Belmzoukia’s work focuses on the intersection of technology and public health, especially the potential use of artificial intelligence in addressing global concerns.
As a computer science researcher at Ibn Tofail University, Belmzoukia’s inventions are contributing to the broader landscape of technological advancement.
Belmzoukia had previously been awarded a medal by the International Federation of Inventors Associations for his gateway invention.
