Gaza Strip is an integral part of the Palestinian territories and of the unified Palestinian State, said Morocco’s King Mohammed VI on Wednesday in a letter to Cheikh Niang, UN Committee on Exercise of Inalienable Rights of Palestinian People Chairperson, on the occasion of the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People.
The monarch stated that Morocco rejects and condemns all Israeli violations, the policy of collective punishment, forced displacement, and any attempt to portray developments as factual and absent of the vetting process, further highlighting the necessity of implementing swift de-escalation in preparation for a permanent ceasefire, the protection of civilians pursuant to international law, the delivery of humanitarian aid in sufficient quantities, and the revival of the two-state solution as a political settlement to the Palestinian issue, as discussed at the Extraordinary Arab-Islamic Summit held in Riyadh.
The King added that despite calls for de-escalation and restraint, and for allowing medicines and other relief aid to enter the territory, Israel has continued its indiscriminate carpet bombing and its incursion of ground forces into the Gaza Strip, resulting in the displacement of more than 1.5 million Palestinians and leading to unspeakable death and destruction.
He also reaffirmed Morocco’s unwavering position regarding the right of the Palestinian people to establish their independent state with Al-Quds as its capital.
As Chairman of the Al-Quds Committee, the sovereign emphasized the necessity to protect Jerusalem and preserve its historical and legal status, rejecting attempts to change the city’s identity by force.
The monarch also emphasized the need to provide sufficient relief aid in an efficient, safe, and unhindered manner to Palestinian citizens in the Gaza Strip.
