Morocco’s capacity to guarantee its national strategic stock of medicines and healthcare products has risen, meeting 70% of the national market’s needs for medicines and vaccines, said Head of Government Aziz Akhannouch.
During the monthly session of oral questions addressed to the head of government in the Lower House regarding the “strategic orientations of the healthcare system,” Akhannouch said that the government is working to establish the Moroccan Agency for Medicines and Healthcare Products under Statute No. 10.22, and will equip it with the necessary means to align it with the latest innovations in this field.
This dynamic comes at a time when the government is committed to supporting all investment projects related to the healthcare system, such as the first smart factory for generic medicines in Africa, in the province of Benslimane.
In addition to the efforts made to strengthen healthcare quality in Morocco, the head of government noted that the implementation of a range of prevention and disease control programs is currently being executed, and highlighted the achievements made this year in the field of maternal and child health, particularly through the provision of free vaccines for the protection of children, infants, and women of childbearing age.
