Agadir police services apprehended eight foreign tourists on Thursday night, in collaboration with Territorial Surveillance Services, for suspected possession and use of forged foreign banknotes.
Police services had caught a girl red-handed while attempting to exchange eight forged banknotes (each worth 20 pounds) at a money exchange office. The girl’s arrest helped catch other suspects.
The search of a rented villa in the beach area of Taghazout (north of the city of Agadir) resulted in the seizure of seven additional counterfeit bills of the same monetary denomination.
The suspects were placed in police custody to complete the investigation under the supervision of the prosecutor’s office.
