As part of the 2025 Health Plan, the Ministry of Health launched the “RIAYA 2023-2024” (Arabic for care) winter weather assistance operation covering 31 provinces in eight regions aiming to increase the availability of the health services required in cold weather outbreaks. The intervention plan will run through March 30, 2024.
The goal of this operation is to guarantee an appropriate response to the healthcare requirements of persons living in cold-weather zones and isolated rural communities, with a budget of 10,230 million MAD for medications and supplies, and over 2.5 billion MAD for a special allocation to support provincial delegations on an ongoing yearly basis.
The operations aim to ensure the availability of human resources, equipment, medicines and health products in 745 health centers as 3,766 mobile medical units will be sent to localities within the targeted regions.
The Ministry will dispatch 175 Specialized Medical Caravans and Mini Specialized Medical Caravans (CMS and MCMS) to provide care for identified patients; these will be divided amongst the patients, along with Primary Health Care Establishments and the Emergency Medical Care Network (RISUM).
The Ministry of Health intends to mobilize 2,028 health professionals (doctors, nurses, pharmacists, technicians, and administrative staff), as well as medical and technical diagnostic equipment (mobile ultrasound scanners, mobile mini-analyzers for laboratory tests, dental chairs, refractometers, and other equipment as needed)–and a large number of mobile health units, lorries, mobile clinics, and ambulances—in order to maximize the program’s success.
