Condé Nast Traveler named Rabat, a vibrant cultural and artistic hub, as one of the top African cities to visit in 2024.
With the ancient cities of Marrakech, Fez and Tangier stealing the limelight and drawing flocks of tourists, Rabat is preparing to morph into a coveted destination on the back of its urban transformation over the past years.
The Mohammed VI Tower is expected to become one of the most prominent tourist attractions in the Kingdom’s capital in 2024, the travel magazine noted. The architectural landmark, which had received the Lead Gold and HGE certificates, is the tallest tower in Africa.
The magazine also referred to the new Grand Theatre of Rabat as a multifunctional cultural edifice, designed by renowned Iraqi architect Zaha Hadid.
It also mentioned the 2024 Mawazine Festival which will return after a long hiatus and coincide with a growing luxury hotel infrastructure. International celebrities had hit the Fest’s floor in previous editions such as Rihanna and Mariah Carey.
Rabat took center stage among other African cities like Johannesburg and KwaZulu-Natal (South Africa), Accra (Ghana), and Okavango Delta (Botswana). Countries as Madagascar, Rwanda, Sierra Leon, Mauritius, Mozambique, and British island St. Helena were also featured in the list.
